Have fun crafting sweet trails!

Join the "Stewardship Crew" as we work together to continue improving the sustainability of recreation in Panthertown. Everyone is welcome! No previous trail volunteering experience is necessary, just a desire to help out.

#protectpanthertown

Our project adventure will take us from the Panthertown Valley rim down to the bike and hike friendly Macs Gap Trail. Plan to hike around 4 miles round trip on moderate terrain while performing trail maintenance along the way. We’ll take in the beauty and get dirt on our boots, as we repair a couple badly eroded sections of trail, clean out rain drains, and prune the corridor of overgrown vegetation. Bring a picnic lunch; it’s always a scenic one! Help take care of our public lands and enjoy the rewards of spending time with fellow forest friends in the Nantahala National Forest!

*BE PREPARED*
Volunteers need to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots and long pants. Bring a backpack with water, an extra layer, bug/ sun protection, and a picnic lunch to enjoy on the trail. Tools, PPE (hard hat, gloves, glasses), and a safety orientation are provided by Friends of Panthertown staff.

#nationalforestcollaboration
Friends of Panthertown is a 501c-3 that works in partnership with the US Forest Service to maintain 30 miles of designated trails and support conservation projects in Panthertown.
